Show Racism the Red Card
Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) is the UK’s leading anti-racism education charity which uses the high profile of professional footballers as anti-racism role-models to educate against racism in society. As well as producing educational resources, Show Racism the Red Card deliver programmes of direct anti-racism education with over 50,000 young people and more than 6,000 adults every year.
Since launching in 1970, Kickers have been on the feet of change-makers from the school yard to the world stage. Unity and diversity have always been part of the Kickers DNA and as a brand, we believe in the importance of speaking out and standing up for everyone that makes up the Kickers tribe. As a brand synonymous with school, we know the importance of education in affecting change in society – and so, we see Show Racism the Red Card as our perfect partner. As part of our Change Starts Here platform, we will be working with SRtRC on events, activities, competitions and a whole lot more to continue putting the spotlight on education and working towards positive change in their communities.
“I encourage all schools to get involved with the SRtRC Competition… the quality of the young people’s artwork is always very high, the kids all love getting involved and Show Racism the Red Card is a really good and important message.”
Christine Blower, former General Secretary, National Education Union
“It’s so important that youngsters understand the importance of reporting racism – whether they experience it or witness it – to someone they trust such as a teacher, parent or family member.”
Gini Wijnaldum, Liverpool FC
“We need to work to make sure that there is no racism at all. To do that you need to constantly work on it and educate people, not stand still and not think that we have achieved our goal. “
Ryan Giggs
“When you are on the receiving side of it, I can assure you that there is no banter about it. It hurts!
And that can mark and scar someone for life.”
Thierry Henry
Show Racism the Red Card are delighted to be supported by Kickers and are looking forward to developing this exciting new partnership.
Working with a brand that shares a similar ethos to SRtRC, we will seek to bring people together to effect positive change and to ensure that this relationship is a meaningful one, and one that makes a difference.
